MC Lyte offers $100k college scholarship

(FinalCall.com) - The Hip Hop Sisters Network, founded by MC Lyte is currently accepting applications for the MC Lyte / UW-Madison $100,000 First Wave Scholarship Presented by Hip Hop Sisters Foundation.

The scholarship will be awarded to one recipient enrolled in the First Wave Program for an all-expense paid college education for a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The First Wave Spoken Word and Hip Hop Arts Learning Community is an artistic program bringing together young artists to study and create spoken word and hip hop. It is the fi rst university program in the country centered on hip hop culture.

Hip Hop Sisters is a nonprofi t organization that provides a supportive forum for young women by promoting positive and uplifting images of women in hip hop and rap.

The application deadline is October 1 and is open to high school seniors applying for admission to UW-Madison for Fall 2013.
