Quiet Epidemic Killing White Americans?

A quiet epidemic is killing White Americans at alarming rates. In spite of medical advances and decreasing overall mortality rates for the past 17 years, middleaged White men and women are dying at rates comparable to the number of Americans who have died of AIDS, according to updated Princeton University research which recognized this problem two years ago.

In 2015, Anne Case, the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of Economics and Public Affairs, and her husband Angus Deaton, the 2015 Nobel Laureate in economics and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Professor of International Affairs and professor of economics and international affairs published their research on the rising rates of White deaths in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“This increase for whites was largely accounted for by increasing death rates from drug and alcohol poisonings, suicide, and chronic liver diseases and cirrhosis,” explained the report, Rising Morbidity and Mortality in Midlife Among White non- Hispanic Americans in the 21st century.

“Self-reported declines in health, mental health, and ability to conduct activities of daily living, and increases in chronic pain and inability to work, as well as clinically measured deteriorations in liver function, all point to growing distress in this population.”

That was two years ago. In the updated research the authors have now linked the deaths to a “cumulative disadvantage over life, in the labor market, in marriage and child outcomes, and in health” triggered by fewer job opportunities for those without college degrees.

That’s also the life of many Blacks and Latinos but the research doesn’t show an increase in their deaths. That’s the puzzle the researchers are trying to figure out. Life is better for Whites than so many in America yet they are dying more than any other group from what the researchers call, “deaths of despair.”

The researchers looked at data from more than 1,000 regions around the country and found the rate of deaths for middle age Whites rose in nearly every part of the country. Regardless of whether it was a rural or urban part of the U. S. and the trend seemed to hit men and women similarly.

They are using drugs more than ever, drinking alcohol more than ever and committing suicide more than ever. “Ultimately, we see our story as about the collapse of the white, high school educated, working class after its heyday in the early 1970s, and the pathologies that accompany that decline,” the researchers conclude.

Dr. Wilmer Leon, political scientist and international commentator agrees. “They are dying because they believed the same lie that they told us that’s rooted in racism, White Supremacy and White privilege. There was a time when that population could graduate from high school, get a factory job, buy a house and send their children to college. Those days are over. Now they have to take out a third mortgage just to maintain their perception of middle class.”

“They believe that the brown skinned immigrants are stealing their jobs and the entitlement money is going to lazy, shiftless Negros. They go to a restaurant and are served by someone with an accent, the bank teller has an accent, and their children’s teacher has an accent. On top of all of that there was a Black president. They saw that as the end of their world, the world they are convinced is theirs has come to an end. Their whiteness is not working for them anymore,” he told The Final Call.

Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan noted during his 52- week lecture series, “The Time and What Must Be Done” that two of the factors causing the former slave masters and their children to be more antagonistic towards Black people are: The White birth decline in Europe and America and at the same time of their birth decline, the increased population of the darker peoples of the Earth and the rise of Islam in Africa, Asia, Europe and other areas. During Part 39 of the 2013 broadcast of the series, the Minister references excerpts from a short video on the website americaworking.org that delves into the factors contributing to the decline in fertility rates of Whites in many European nations as well as in the U.S.

“This is like a warning to White people, to get ready for a change that they are not in control of. According to this video, ‘2-2.1 live births down to 1.8 live births’ means that in 25 years there will be a cultural change—but will you, as a White person, be able to survive? But once your birth rate goes to “1.6 and under,” it is “impossible to reverse”…, said Min. Farrakhan.

“What is expressed in this video bears witness to what the Bible says; that ‘their womb would be cursed,’ and ‘their land would be cursed,’ and so we see that the fruit of their womb is. Around the country opioid deaths are increasing at alarming rates. Heroin has become king in White suburban neighborhoods now. Pills are being dumped in cities and pain centers are just as popular as liquor stores.

Heroin is not a new addiction. It is an illegal form of opioids. Dr. Leon explained that when it was just a Black problem or confined to urban centers, heroin, addiction was seen as a criminal issue but now that opioid addiction has moved from a needle to pills for pain addiction which produce an effect similar to heroin, it’s a social issue, now that it’s not bought from the drug dealer on the corner and can be gotten from the pharmacist it’s a mental health issue.
