Farrakhan trends number 1 onTwitter

Truth is the new trend!

According to the Twitter rankings, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan was the number one trending topic for his most recent weekly webcast of “The Time and What Must Be Done” lecture series.

The latest numbers were reported by Jesse Muhammad, who manages social media for Min. Farrakhan and The Final Call newspaper. “Due to the increased tweeting of members and non-members of the Nation of Islam, for the fi rst time ever, Minister Farrakhan was the number one U.S. trending topic during his hour-long broadcast. This means that the hashtag #Farrakhan was the most actively discussed Twitter topic during that interval of time, even above the tragic crash landing at the San Francisco airport,” said Mr. Muhammad. He was referring to numbers for Saturday, July 6. The Minister delivered the 26th installment of a planned 52-week lecture series at NOI.org/thetime and the webcast airs each week at 6 p.m. CST.

According to Mr. Muhammad, the spreading of the truth was all the more impressive because it “was accomplished organically as viewers of the weekly series eagerly tweeted salient points from Part 26. Not only did the hashtag #Farrakhan trend nationally, but it was also ranked number 2 in worldwide Twitter trends. Becoming a global trending topic is sparked by people from other foreign nations joining that particular chat and creating more digital traction beyond the borders of the U.S.

“Even members of the N.O.I. in the United Kingdom, where Minister Farrakhan is banned from visiting, are staying up weekly to live tweet although it is midnight there when the broadcast starts,” he observed.

“Why is so much emphasis placed on trending topics? Because trending topics can quickly alert users about breaking news, natural disasters, television show happenings, political uprisings, etc. Twitter users take particular phrases preceded by a pound (#) symbol to categorize discussions centered on a specifi c topic,” Mr. Muhammad explained.

“When seeing a particular topic trending, it lures users in to click it and see why and what caused it to trend.”

“Every Saturday evening, the volume of users tweeting with the hashtags #Farrakhan and #TheTime is rising and is evident in the trending rankings. In the midst of tweets being posted by the social media platform’s over 200 million followers, the Twitter Army continues to penetrate the ‘noise’ and get truth trending. This is something that should not be taken lightly especially since Minister Farrakhan warned us that we’re on the enemy’s ‘watch list,’ ” Mr. Muhammad added.

Min. Farrakhan, in delivering insightful and powerful weekly messages, has stressed to his followers the need for responsible, reasoned and respectful discourse. He has instructed his followers to engage in dialogue and reject demeaning and offensive language, despite what opponents may say.

“To the brothers and sisters who are the Twitter Army: I thank you for your diligent work and I remind you that our duty, today, is to change the conversation on the social media. Not one of foolishness but to talk on the wisdom of God as projected and taught by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad,” the Minister said June 29.

The success also follows instances where those tweeting about the Minister and The Time series have often found themselves in “Twitter prison,” suddenly unable to send out the short messages or forward other tweets. A notice comes up saying tweets cannot be sent but there is no violation of terms of service or explanation, explained Jesse Muhammad. The Minister’s Twitter account is just over two-years-old.

The subject of the Minister’s message July 7 was “The Lie and the Liar Are Being Exposed.”

“The whole world is affected by that great lie that makes God a mystery, then into the place of God comes a man with a wicked spirit who’s trying to show the world that he’s God. And Satan is interacting with you because he knows good, and so he comes to you with good words only to trick you and deceive you into doing that which is other than good, then he makes your evil fair seeming to you,” said Min. Farrakhan.

“The world is in confusion, utter confusion. America is in confusion, utter confusion. The government of America is in confusion, utter confusion. The earth now is boiling and is headed for hell and complete destruction unless Allah (God) intervenes and stops our fall into hell by manifesting Satan, his deceit, his treachery. ‘The Lie’ and ‘The Liar’ are now being exposed,” he said.
