Final Call Coverage from the DNC Convention
As part of The Final Call's comprehensive coverage of the Democratic National Committee's 2008 Convention August 25-28 in Denver, Colorado, we are presenting special daily reports and updates where you can find news, analysis, commentary and exclusive audio/video reports directly from this historic event.
Will Demcrats unite behind Barack Obama?
DENVER (FinalCall.com) - The question early on was whether White America was ready to support a Black presidential candidate and the answer seemed to be “yes” given Sen. Barack Obama’s big win in Iowa, his Super Tuesday success and now, his position as the leader of the Democratic Party.
White supremacists expect boost if Obama elected
PEARL, Miss.  - They’re not exactly rooting for him, but prominent White supremacists anticipate a boost to their cause if Barack Obama becomes the first Black president.  Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, of Louisiana, said Democrat Obama would be a “visual aid” to the idea that Whites have lost control of America.
Conflict in the Caucasus; tensions mount
U.S. interference leads to increased tension in Georgia
No one should be surprised that U.S. interference in the Caucasus has led to the Russian invasion of South Ossetia. By mixing into the volatile politics of the Caucasus, and trying to recruit the governments there to become American “plumbers” for a variety of purposes, the United States has only drawn Russian fire.

Israeli arms sales to Georgia raise new concerns
JERUSALEM (IPS) - With the eruption of fighting between Russia and Georgia, Israel has found itself in an awkward position as a result of its arms sales to Georgia, caught between its friendly relations with Georgia and its fear that the continued sale of weaponry will spark Russian retribution in the form of increased arms sales to Iran and Syria.
Athletics without activism
LOS ANGELES - As world class athletes competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, displays of strength, agility and fruit of hard work and sacrifice were apparent, but some American athletes showed their activism with protests against China’s treatment of Tibetans, the Sudanese military conflict in Darfur and calls for an end to cruel practices against animals.
Revelation Guide All Right
the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad
This right guidance must come from Allah through a Messenger that He sends to you in the time of the Resurrection and Judgment of the world who has a heart and mind like God’s Himself; the executor of the wicked.

Prophet Muhammad and the Holy Qur’an
Healing For The World
The sad thing about the world is that there is a hunger and a thirst in the people of the Western world and in humanity in general for peace, justice and for the solving of human problems. Muhammad the Prophet (PBUH) is not only relevant to the struggle we have for all the good things of life, but, he and what Allah Gave Him are essential.

Minister Farrakhan’s more than a vision experience
by Jabril Muhammad
Ninety-six months after he determined that he would, by Allah’s help, lift the name and rebuild the work of his teacher, and fifty-five months after he announced that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was physically alive, Minister Farrakhan had a very unusual experience.

Cultural links revealed between Native Americans and Mongolia
Mother Tynnetta Muhammad
Within two days of my return from Mongolia to the United States in the summer of 2006, I prepared to join the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to visit the Navajo Nation at Window Rock, Arizona. During that journey, I shared my experiences in Mongolia with Brother Minister Farrakhan and his wife.

Remembering two Black cultural icons
(FinalCall.com) - The impact of two Black cultural geniuses that have recently died were remembered in memorial tribute services over the past week for their contributions to society and the enjoyment they brought to the lives of others.
Obama heads to Denver for convention
WASHINGTON (FinalCall.com) - As the Democratic Party heads into its presidential nominating convention in Denver under the banner of party unity—“One Nation: Americans Coming Together for Change”—the campaign of presumptive nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), appears “flawed” and “weak” in the view of some political scientists because of concessions made to the losing campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and to former President Bill Clinton.
Hip hop pushes a political agenda
LAS VEGAS - Hundreds of hip hop activists, artists, youth, educators and journalists recently convened the Third Bi-Annual National Hip Hop Political Convention at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada where they presented a 2008 agenda filled with issues they say are glossed over in mainstream politics.
Unveiling the New Educational Paradigm
Dr. Larry Muhammad is the National Director of Muhammad Universities of Islam. He shares the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s vision on education and has many innovative ideas in bringing that vision into fruition.
U.S. Army says suicide; Parents seek investigation
The U.S. Army says it was a suicide resulting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head from an M-16. The parents say it was murder.  Three years later, instead of celebrating their daughter’s birthday, the parents of Pfc. LaVena Johnson are continuing their investigation into what they believe is a cover-up of the suspicious circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death.
Shame on America’s battlefields and bases
When a soldier enlists in the American military, there is perhaps no worse news than to receive the awful notification that a loved one has died. The pain and sense of loss must be almost unbearable and bring a burden that can test the strongest parents and families.
Race: A double-dutch problem for Obama
I was asked by a reporter at one point during the primary elections whether the issue of race would continue to play in the fall campaign and I responded that it would as long as Barack was Black—which meant that his race would be an unavoidable target for his opponent and that his own community would often throw some fuel on the fire.
Feds run HIV/AIDS numbers game
MEXICO CITY - When it comes to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, the federal government has been running a numbers game. That was recently verified when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention acknowledged that it has been underestimating the number of HIV cases each year by 40 percent.
Rwanda accuses France of hand in bloody genocide
UNITED NATIONS (FinalCall.com) - Fourteen years after bloody 1994 genocide in Rwanda, a government commission recently issued a 500-page report charging senior French officials were complicit in the deaths of nearly one million Tutsis and Hutus.
New York 'Cops gone wild'
Leaders: Special prosecutor needed to curb NYPD abuses
NEW YORK (FinalCall.com) - Two days after activists and politicians held a press conference to protest “aggressive behavior” by members of the New York City Police Department, a 25-year-old Black man was shot by a police lieutenant while being questioned about an alleged stolen car.

Tennessee Democrat defeats Black lawyer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A racially charged Democratic primary campaign ended with an incumbent congressman trouncing the opponent who ran an ad linking him to the Ku Klux Klan. Rep. Cohen is the first White congressman from Memphis in more than three decades and one of only two White congressmen representing a majority Black district.
SCLC: Racism still alive in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (NNPA) - The Rev. Charles Steele Jr., president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, knows New Orleans well. His organization was founded here.  While some were caught off guard by his recent description of New Orleans as one of the most racist cities in the United States, he says they shouldn’t have.
The global exploitation of Africa’s land and people
Emira Woods has been with the Institute for Policy Studies for four years and currently serves as the director of Foreign Policy in Focus. She sat down with The Final Call’s Assistant Editor Ashahed M. Muhammad for a wide ranging discussion on the African Diaspora and the mad scramble for Africa’s human and natural resources.
'Guardian angel' charged with stealing Black children
HOUSTON - Five young Hurricane Katrina survivors who were taken from their mother by a woman they had been living with for nearly three years are being interviewed by Child Protective Services about allegations that their mother abused them.
