Black Press On the Streets in Haiti
(FinalCall.com) - On Wednesday Feb. 10, I and other members of a Black media delegation arranged by the Haiti Support Project and Dr. Ron Daniels were on the streets in Port Au Prince, some 30 days after the major killer earthquake. U.S. officials said food distribution was going pretty good. Not according to the people I talked to --- on the street and in a highly organized section of camp of people displaced by the quake.
Black Press Visits Haiti
(FinalCall.com) - We arrived in Haiti Feb. 9 on a flight from New York to the Dominican Republic and then a charter flight into Port Au Prince. The group met with U.S. embassy officials on our late afternoon arrival and had dinner before turning in for more work. I documented some of the conditions in the country as our bus drove through the city. The reality is simply incredible as is the resilence of the Haitian people.
