Mastering Dialect and Scripture
“Then I was told ‘You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.’” --Revelations 10:11
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.” --Acts 2:4
Dialect: a regional variety of language distinguished by features of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation from other regional varieties and constituting together with them a single language.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, in an interview conducted in 2004 by Brother Jabril Muhammad, published in Closing The Gap offered the most concise summary I have ever read listing the essential sciences used by the Writers of scripture, saying, “Through the plain language and the metaphorical language, which is the language that uses nature and the creatures of God to describe characteristics of human beings and nations; the force of nature; the wind; the weather; aspects of zoology; aspects of botany; aspects of anthropology; aspects of meteorology; aspects of physics and chemistry and science, all of this language is used in scripture to couch and hide even truth, as well as to give a mind that is not yet ready for deeper aspects of truth enough to free that mind; to start a movement toward the deeper understanding of what God had in mind when He revealed what He revealed.”
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s interpretation of scripture—given to him by Master Fard Muhammad—holds the key to the advancement of every scientific discipline, area of expertise, profession and occupation known to man. It also opens the way to a new form of politics and economics, capable of extending the time of America and this world’s system, if it is received, through Minister Farrakhan’s representation of it. What is written of Moses, Aaron, Jonah, Joseph, Daniel, Hud, Salih, Shu’ayb in the scriptures is a sign of this.
Last article I implied a view that the greater respect we pay to language and scripture, with proper motivation; the faster our growth and progress will be—across creed, class, color and partisan affiliation. Mother Tynnetta Muhammad’s recent Final Call article, “Mystical Journey to Inner Earth—Passageway Through Mongolia and Higher Dimensions of Thought,” is highly significant and relevant to the future growth and progress of the Nation Of Islam
Now, a question for scientific reasoning and informal, even ‘fun’ conversation:
How many dialects does the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan speak?
This question came to me as I looked at the map of the twelve federal reserve districts and thought over the number of dialects one would have to master in order to effectively communicate with the people of these 12 regions of the United States. Think over how Minister Farrakhan has utilized or referenced the sciences of zoology, theology, anthropology, agronomy, physics, astronomy and economics since his October 9th address in Philadelphia commemorating the anniversary of the Million Man March.
I’m not a linguist nor scholar of rhetoric but just casually I thought of aspects of his various messages wherein he both—with great seriousness and humor—moves in and out of various accents and dialects, effortlessly. His sensitivity in this regard, matters, to the listener.
For example, my Mother—born in Panama but raised in Jamaica—is affected in a way that I am not when Minister Farrakhan speaks with a Caribbean accent. She is also a Christian, so when Minister Farrakhan sings a few parts from a Church gospel, to make a point, it resonates. Many of us have noted the Minister’s at times, strong New York accent, while on other occasions he sounds like he is from the Southern, Midwest or Western region of America. And I know just a little bit about how his limited usage of Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic in certain settings has moved some deeply. From another perspective, I once sat in a room full of Hip-Hop artists and heard him speak their language with humility, to great effect. Yet he was not seeking their applause as much as understanding and transformation, while showing respect to their culture and worldview. He spoke to them as both their Teacher and their Student.
One day Minister Farrakhan was speaking to me about Africa and he seamlessly extended the truth of a point he made, deepening my understanding of the spiritual and cultural essence in the unity of the Original people—across ethnic, tribal, and religious lines—by going into the very nature of the atom. I was stunned, to say the least. More recently, I witnessed Minister Farrakhan extemporaneously demonstrate the relationship between finance, anatomy, and morality. He likened oxygen’s relationship with blood to that of righteousness in the proper pursuit and handling of money.
What is at the root of Minister Farrakhan’s ability to communicate orderly thoughts with mathematical precision in the English language and ‘dialects’ of the human family? What undergirds his ability to learn so many ‘new’ subjects so quickly?
These questions have spiritual implications for this world’s political system and the eventual fulfillment of Psalms 105:20-22, “The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance: To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.”
Can you imagine Minister Farrakhan teaching U.S. Senators?
