During the recent visit to Saudi Arabia, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and a Nation of Islam delegation visited Islamic sites and holy places. One of the places the delegation visited was the site of the Battle of Uhud, a battle of extreme importance to Islam as a victory turned to defeat when some of the Muslims disobeyed the Prophet’s command to hold certain strategic positions. Instead, they deserted their posts seeking the spoils of war. Victory turned to disaster and the Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, was wounded in that battle. While at the sacred place, Min. Farrakhan said a special prayer which is reprinted below.

In the Name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds,

The Beneficent, the Merciful,

Master of the day of Requital.

Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.

Guide us on the right path,

The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favours,

Not those upon whom wrath is brought down, nor those who go astray.

O Allah, we thank you for allowing us the privilege to come to this Holy and Sacred Place to learn the lesson of history. We thank his royal highness, King Salman, for allowing us the privilege to be his guest during the Holy Month of Ramadan and to pray in the Prophet’s Mosque and we are on our way to Al-Haram in Mecca.

But O Allah, the height of the mountain where the rebellion took place is not equal to the height of the rebellion itself. For it is disobedience to Allah and His Messenger that brought about the loss in the midst of a victory and caused the Prophet himself to be wounded. What is the lesson?

The lesson it seems to me is that as long as our minds are on the spoils of war or on material possessions, we have a chance to lose the victory because obedience to Allah is better than sacrifice.

Nation of Islam delegation arrives in the early morning at Mount Uhud and memorial for slain martyrs.
O Allah have mercy upon us in this time. For we, the Nation of Islam in America, are on the frontline fighting Shaitan (Satan) in government and in institutions. But grant us victory but when you give us the victory, be careful in victory because in the middle of victory is defeat if we are not mindful. So, when Allah’s help and victory comes, and we see men entering the religion of Allah in companies, celebrate the praise of our Lord and ask his protection. Because gloating over victory is not the way of Allah, be asking for protection from vanity and vain imaginations of victory.

Let us take the lesson of Uhud back to America for we are soldiers in the cause of Allah, and we are fighting for Islam and we will surely win. With Allah Our Saviour, the Universal King, we thank him for allowing us this privilege. And we say in our prayers, “Our prayer, our sacrifice, our life and our death is all for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.”

So, as we return to our place of battle, we await martyrdom to establish Islam in America and in the Western Hemisphere as Prophet Muhammad established Islam throughout the Old World. But he left the job of the New World to another people who would come up with faith in Allah and faith in him, and taking on the mind and the spirit of the Prophet. We will not leave the battlefield until the whole of the Western World says with us: Ashhadu anla e-laaha ill Allahu Wa Ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasullah. (There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger. Ameen. Allah-U-Akbar! (God is the Greatest!) Allah-U-Akbar! (God is the Greatest!) Allah-U-Akbar! (God is the Greatest!) Allah- U-Akbar! (God is the Greatest!)
