Holy Qur’an, Surah 19: Maryam
The Proven Truth
[19:34] That was Jesus, the son of Mary, and this is the truth of this matter, about which they continue to doubt.
[19:35] It does not befit GOD that He begets a son, be He glorified. To have anything done, He simply says to it, “Be,” and it is.
[19:36] He also proclaimed, “GOD is my Lord and your Lord; you shall worship Him alone. This is the right path.”
[19:37] The various parties disputed among themselves (regarding the identity of Jesus). Therefore, woe to those who disbelieve from the sight of a terrible day.
[19:38] Wait till you hear them and see them when they come to face us. The transgressors on that day will be totally lost.
[19:39] Warn them about the day of remorse, when judgment will be issued. They are totally oblivious; they do not believe.
[19:40] We are the ones who inherit the earth and everyone on it; to us everyone will be returned.

On Feb. 16, 2015 our Nation of Islam’s mother returned to Allah. Mother Tynnetta was a huge influence in the life of my late mother Wauneta Lonewolf and me. In the early ‘80s I remember Mother Tynnetta teaching my mother Islam. They would be up all hours of the night philosophizing on Islam and the similarities in Indigenous culture and religion. They became the best of friends.
Many even believed they were sisters because they favored one another in their speech and wisdom. Amongst many beautiful and strong women that were around me growing up, I looked at Mother Tynnetta as another mother figure.
When my mother transitioned in 2003, I went through a very hard time with her death. I moved to Baltimore, Maryland from Phoenix, Ariz. to try to run from the pain. In Nov. 2004 Mother Tynnetta had the local mosque in Baltimore reach out to me so we could see each other. I was still in a very dark place and maybe Mother sensed that. When I arrived, she held me and immediately put me to work. She wanted me to find something Native American in the Maryland/Washington, D.C. area that we can attend. Ironically it was the grand opening of the Smithsonian Native American Museum. When we arrived, she said to me, “Do you have any of your mother’s jewelry?” I told her “yes!” She said “You should wear it,” and she smiled. We both walked around the museum like children in a candy store just in awe of everything we saw that was similar to the teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s teachings. We saw similarities with the Asian and African culture.

A month later she and Minister Farrakhan were in Baltimore and Mother Tynnetta was telling the Minister of our time together at the museum. After she explained our day she told the Minister “It’s time! It’s time for her!” I sat there in pure confusion. Was I being initiated into something? Am I going somewhere? And the Minister smiled at Mother Tynnetta.
Nine months later the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan asked me to help him bridge the Black and Red nations for the Millions More Movement in August of 2005. And I haven’t looked back since. I guess it was time!
Throughout the past 11 years, Mother Tynnetta would reach out to me, council me, motivate me and confided to me she really wanted us within the Nation of Islam to be great; to reach our fullest potential and beyond. Her teachings were like those of a scientist, but a spiritual scientist. There was nothing too far off that I could speak to her about. She understood the various realms of God and our lives.
Mother Tynnetta is a pure example of Bridging the Families. She traveled all across the world, climbing mountains, traveling thousands of miles, embracing people from all walks of life which is something we should ALL do. She didn’t get caught up in the daily drama of life. She didn’t stress off of “who’s gonna notice me? who’s gonna help me?” She walked with faith that she knew that Allah is her comforter, her provider and her protector.
I urge everyone to re-read her articles in The Final Call newspaper, listen to her lectures and re-read Surah 19. I pray for her immediate family, as they are my family. You ALL are her legacy. As she saw something in me, when I didn’t even see it within myself to continue on the work of my mother. I know for a fact that Mother Tynnetta saw greatness in all of you. Live your life as she lived hers.
In the words of her and my mother they often spoke about your spirit traveling and visiting people. Mother Tynnetta is with us in her works. Let’s be better!! And let’s continue to show her legacy!
I will always love you, Mother Tynnetta! May Allah be pleased with you!
