Nelson Mandela Science and Technolgy centers to be built in three African countries

(Arusha Times/allAfrica.com) - About 5000 acres are need for the construction of the proposed Nelson Mandela institute, an International Science and Technology training centre, which is planned to be established at the Arumeru District, Arusha region, in the near future.
The Arumeru District Council chairman Samwel Urassa, explained that the proposed Mandela Science and Technology Institute will be providing higher education training in that field, upon its completion. He however did not specify when that is expected to be.
Urassa was speaking during one of the District Ward councillors' meetings (Full Council), which was held in Arumeru recently. The chairman requested the District Council to donate land for the Mandela Institute project.
The Arumeru based Institute, will be among the three Nelson Mandela Centers planned to be built in three African countries, the other two will be established in Nigeria and South Africa. Arusha was chosen to host the Tanzanian chapter of the three- institute chain.
Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa and veteran Freedom Fighter, is one of the powerful political figures in the continent. Mandela succeeded Mwalimu Julius Nyerere in presiding over the Arusha- held Burundi peace negotiations.
Meanwhile a total of 37 wards in Arumeru will soon be joining the newly established District Social Health Fund into which, each household in the district is expected to be pooling Tsh.5000
