The Nation of Islam
vs.
New York Post
Farrakhan was not part of any plot
by Jabril Muhammad

This is the second installment of a brief series of articles which are intended to bring the readers up to date on the main aspects and status of this case, in which every member of the Nation of Islam is involved.

What follows is one of the documents in this case which has important points most of the public may not know. It begins:

"William M. Kunstler, an attorney duly licensed to practice as such in the state of New York, hereby affirms, under the pains and penalties of perjury, as follows:

"1. I am making this affirmation in support of plaintiffs opposition to the defendants pending motion for summary judgment.

"2. After the assassination of Malcolm X on February 21, 1965, I was retained by the Nation of Islam to open up the case of the two convicted defendants, namely Thomas 15X Johnson (Khalil Islam) and Norman 3X Butler (Muhammad Abdul Aziz), who were not guilty of the crime, according to information furnished to me by Talmadge Hayer (Thomas Hagan, Mujahid Abdul Halim), a third defendant, who was convicted after fully admitting his guilt. In February of 1978, I obtained an affidavit from Mr. Hayer in which he recounted how many assassins were involved, who they were, and how the murder had been arranged. Hayer said that he planned the entire plot, bought the weapons used, made the diversionary smoke bomb, and planned and orchestrated the assassination.

"3. I understand that the affidavit which I obtained from Mr. Hayer has been submitted to the court by the defendants in this case in an effort to support their contention that plaintiff Farrakhan is guilty of complicity in the murder of Malcolm X. There is absolutely nothing in this affidavit which remotely implies that Minister Farrakhan had anything to do with the assassination and I do not believe, from my own investigation, that he had any information that Malcolm X was going to be murdered by Mr. Hayer and those whom he has named as his accomplices. During my numerous discussions with Mr. Hayer, he related the whole story to me, furnishing the names, descriptions, occupations, and addresses of those accomplices. Nowhere, and at no time, did he mention any participation by Minister Farrakhan in the assassination.

"4. There is overwhelming evidence, including that amassed by the Select Senate Committee To Study Governmental Operations With Respect to Intelligence Activities (the Church Committee), 94th Congress, First Session, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) instigated or encouraged the murder of Malcolm X. After the latters death, Director J. Edgar Hoover issued a directive forbidding his agents from participating in the ensuing murder investigation. Significantly, there was a FBI report on January 22, 1969, from the Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago resident agency claiming success in causing or exacerbating 'factional disputes' in targeted organizations, including the Nation of Islam, 'the most notable being MALCOLM X. LITTLE.'

"5. During his tenure and prior to the murder of Malcolm X, Director Hoover often spoke of the need for preventing the rise in this country of what he called 'a Black Messiah.' Today, Minister Farrakhan, in my opinion, would be so considered, placing him in great personal jeopardy. I am firmly convinced that the recent charges brought against Qubilah Shabazz, Malcolms second daughter, in the federal District of Minnesota were instituted in order to stimulate someone to assassinate Minister Farrakhan just as Hayer and his associates had been so stimulated with relation to Malcolm X thirty years ago.

"Dated: New York, N.Y.

"July 14, 1995"

I'd like to again call the reader's attention to the above words of the late brilliant Attorney, William M. Kunstler, from the above document, which are: "During his tenure and prior to the murder of Malcolm X, Director Hoover often spoke of the need for preventing the rise in this country of what he called 'a Black Messiah.' Today, Minister Farrakhan, in my opinion, would be so considered, placing him in great personal jeopardy."

When written, slander is libel. This evil world was founded and has been maintained, in a large measure, through slander and libel.

In the previous article I mentioned that paragraph sixteen, which identifies and describes the Honorabe Louis Farrakhan, would be taken up in another article. That, and more, is the subject of the next article.

Meanwhile, this case ought to make each of more careful not to slander or libel anyone--including each other.
