CHICAGO—Captain Dennis Muhammad, a long-time activist and aide to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam, along with entertainment mogul Russell Simmons have brought their efforts in combating street violence and increasing peace to one of the most popular spots where discussions and debates happen in cities large and small all the time: the barbershop.

Captain Dennis Muhammad, founder of the Peacekeepers and Mr. Simmons’ RushCard are collaborating once again, this time in Chicago to kick off their Barbershop Talk. At various barbershops and beauty salons around the city, the initiative aims to inspire patrons to become more involved in helping solve community problems and issues. One of the goals is also to form a local chapter of the Peacekeepers and work toward making neighborhoods around the city clean and decent areas to live, work and socialize.

The official Chicago kickoff of the Barbershop Talk took place on Sept. 7 at Larry’s Barber College and will continue at various shops around the “Windy City” through Sept. 21. For more information, visit Dennis Muhammad on Facebook and stay tuned for additional photos and coverage in an upcoming issue of The Final Call.
