LAS VEGAS—The second annual Western Regional Training Seminar was an absolute success titled, “Defending our way of Life,” held June 15. Men, women and children received training, and knowledge from Nation of Islam Student Assistant Supreme Captain and martial arts grandmaster, Abdul Azziz Muhammad (formerly Anthony Muhammad).

The Fruit of Islam (FOI) started their day at 9:00 a.m. going through several neighborhoods in Las Vegas, distributing The Final Call newspaper and promoting peace in communities, after several killings took place weeks prior. The FOI invited several gang members to visit Muhammad Mosque No. 75 the following day, and several people accepted the invitation.

Western Region Student FOI Captain Halim Muhammad led over 100 men out in the community, along with Student Captain Naim, Western Region Trainer Dontre X and Student Captain Darian from Las Vegas. Residents came out to cheer and greet the brothers and it was overwhelming. People in the community embraced the FOI with love and affection.

After being out in the community, in 105 degree weather, Grandmaster Azziz conducted the training seminar, which consisted of how to eat to live properly, self-defense, and how to defend yourself and our way of life as Muslim followers of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Grandmaster Azziz talked about how impactful, and life-changing his trip to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, was as part of a delegation that accompanied Min. Farrakhan during the last few days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and how he made a promise to himself to take better care of his health. Grandmaster Azziz then explained how Min. Farrakhan gave him his holy name and was very grateful for the name. He explained he loves helping Min. Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, and he urged everyone to take better care of their health!

“No matter how skilled you are in martial arts, or any art, “How To Eat To Live” is the key to success,” explained Grandmaster Azziz.

He also explained how important it was for us to grow our own food and recommended participants study Will Allen of Growing Power who teaches how to set up gardens in home.

Sister Azziza (formerly Sister Judith), wife of Grandmaster Azziz and also a martial artist spoke on the importance of women and girls participating in training. “Often sisters do not think it’s for them, but it was wonderful to see Zahalia Anderson, who has a dojo in Long Beach, California and other sisters out participating with their young daughters and young sons.”

Student Captain Halim said he was pleased with the event and said he planned on working with Brother Dontre X to bring the Western Regional Training Seminar to Los Angeles next year, to be bigger and better! Student Captain Darian and Brother Greg, from Mosque No. 75, described the day as a wonderful event filled with “love and electricity!”

Grandmaster Azziz invited everyone to the National Training seminar in the Chicago area from July 12 -14 for more training and education on eating properly and how to survive and defend yourself and your family.
