“Those who, if We establish them in the land, will keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and enjoin good and forbid evil. And Allah’s is the end of affairs. And if they reject thee, already before them did the people of Noah and ‘Ad and Thamud reject (prophets), And the people of Abraham and the people of Lot, And the dwellers of Midian. And Moses (too) was rejected. But I gave respite to the disbelievers, then I seized them; so how (severe) was My disapproval!” —Holy Qur’an, Surah 22, verses 41-44

As we come to the fullness of a prophetic cycle as recorded in our Asiatic calendar history, we come face to face with the images of the past and present commingling with the future perfect tense. As we walk in the footsteps of those who went before us, we are ever striving to make a better world. There is no divine scripture that is so perfect in synchronizing past events with the present and describes our characteristics and what we manifest in the Revelation of the Holy Qur’an as demonstrated through the example of the Holy Prophet, Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Today’s wars, struggles, strife, trials and tribulations are a part of the testing grounds for us to live in the Hereafter.

Our recent tour and expedition to the South of Mexico was truly a part of our test and stamina to be totally removed from one environment to experience a new one. We experienced some of the hardships and joys in being exposed to and acknowledging the truth about our history and contributions to civilization all over the Planet, which had been carefully hidden from our view by design.

The most profound experience in this journey was observing the excitement of the children revealed in their happy faces during this extraordinary experience. As they looked upon the enormous stone head and complex temple cities built by the Olmec Mother Culture of Mexico, one could see a transformation.

As in the history of Moses and Aaron who were guided to find a way out of servitude slavery under the oppressive rule of Pharaoh, we were suddenly exposed to the wilderness in this journey, which produced a variety of emotional and spiritual reactions. Some of the members of the tour experienced some hardship, but never desired to turn back, while others were uncomfortable because of issues back home.

In the 9th Surah of the Holy Qur’an, entitled the “Immunity” (or Taubah/The Repentance), Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received a revelation while the pilgrims were gathering for the day of the Greater Pilgrimage at Mecca concerning those who had repeatedly broken their agreements and were stirring up strife among the pilgrims.

As in the case of Moses and Aaron, at a certain point the older generation was separated from their children and forbidden to enter the Promised Land. Consequently, they died in the wilderness, while their children were afforded a great reward and entered the Promised Land, but not without great struggle and endurance. As the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has pointed out to us in many lectures, struggle is ordained.

In our Lessons, the journey in an old touring car traveling at 48 miles per hour on a downhill collision course represents the present world’s opposition to God and the righteous; if we do not trust in God, we are plummeting to our doom. In the above histories from the Bible and Holy Qur’an, the children of today and future generations are the inheritors of the wealth and promises that many of their stiff-necked and rebellious parents could not attain because they walked with doubt and suspicion, making excuses for their failures while walking with the Wise Man in this wilderness trek. This narrative is revealed in the 18th Surah, entitled, “Moses Travels in Search of Knowledge.”

As we looked into the amazing faces of the Olmec statuary at various sites in the states of Veracruz, Tabasco and Chiapas, the children’s faces were lit up and they raised many intelligent questions as one would in a classroom situation. We all were very proud of their enthusiasm at seeing a part of their history, not from the classroom or schoolbooks, but a living reality.

The Olmec culture is erroneously misnamed and it was so-called Olmec because the place in which these 24-ton to 35-ton stone heads made from volcanic stone were found in the place where rubber trees were also grown. From hence came the name “Olmec,” meaning rubber. The Olmecs originated the mathematical system that was inherited by the later Maya in developing their calendar.

Congratulations to Sister Queen Ali, from Lake Elsinor, Calif., one of the young Vanguards who participated in the tour, for turning in the first paper on her experience in August. Dr. Toni Humber has prepared certificates to grant to everyone who turns in their paper stating what they have learned on this educational tour.

“Have they not traveled in the land so that they should have hearts with which to understand, or ears with which to hear? For surely it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts. And they ask thee to hasten on the chastisement, and Allah by no means fails in His promise. And surely a day with thy Lord is as a thousand years of what you reckon. And how many a town to which I gave respite while it was unjust, then I seized it! And to Me is the return.” —Holy Qur’an, Surah 22, verses 46-48

To be continued.
