Farrakhan the Peacemaker

(FinalCall.com)For some 40 years, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan has been engaged in a work of redemption and reconciliation. Most of his work has been with the suffering Black people in America.

His passion and empathy have been shown in trying to reconcile Black organizations and leaders, healing wounds between Black youth and Black elders, and holding "Stop The Killing" speaking tours that promote peace and an end to gang violence. In 1995, he called two million Black men and others to the historic Million Man March to embrace the virtues of atonement, reconciliation and responsibility.

His commitment to justice has also meant challenging the forces of injustice and unfair U.S. foreign and domestic policy, regardless of the circumstances or personal price he has had to pay. His courageous and consistent stand for the oppressed, his spiritual insight and his humility have won him admirers around the world.

He enjoys a reputation as a fair, principled man, despite mainstream media mischaracterizations and false charges of racism.

It is that currency, along with a profound spiritual understanding and insight, that the Minister takes with him into his peace mission in the Middle East and Africa. He departed for the trip on June 20.

Min. Farrakhan sees the Middle East conflict as inextricably linked with scripture and the great three monotheistic religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

He sees a need for not only a political solution, but also a spiritual understanding of the conflict that has raged in the Holy Land. It is the spiritual dimensions of the Arab-Israeli conflict, based on two opposite visions of the state of Israel and what it represents, that are often overlooked as world leaders talk about a political solution to the problem.

Those competing visions will not be reconciled by a political equation alone, spiritual principles and understanding must be incorporated into the discussions. Min. Farrakhan understands the importance of the Middle East conflict in its spiritual dimension and wants to find a way to reconcile competing spiritual visions.

Min. Farrakhans peace mission follows other international efforts and World Friendship Tours, where the leaders and the people of Islamic and African nations have had an opportunity to get to know him, his spirit and his heart.

He comes to the endeavor with no political agenda, only a commitment to peace and an understanding of how the Middle East conflict could grow to become a world war and the dreaded war of Armageddon, prophesied about in scripture.

His commitment is not colored by government control, politics or personal bias. Min. Farrakhan is a man devoted to making peace and we should all pray that almighty God Allah blesses him with success.
