Marketing Islam

(FinalCall.com) - In a world, where media bombards the public with negative images of Islam, how should we be found marketing Islam, when it comes to offering positive images along with proper conduct and behavior? And what is the worth of such an invaluable tool?

Allah (God) says in the Holy Quran 5:3, “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed my favor on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion.” Islam is perfect but the people are not. Nonetheless, it is important for followers of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to market Islam in a perfect manner. We are not perfect; however we do have the ability to be perfect. Jesus said in Mathew 5:3, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which in heaven is perfect.”

How do we fulfill this high demand? What are small steps we can take to work our way to perfection and oneness with Allah (God)? Consider some basic concepts we can practically apply in everyday life to market Islam, which is more than worthy of our devotion.

Spirituality—To be spiritual, means having a God consciousness. When you act on and feed on Allah’s (God’s) words and thoughts, his thoughts direct your decisions and bring peace we cannot get from any other source. We as Muslims must constantly be evolving toward moral excellence and higher thinking. This is the greatest means of marketing Islam. Spirituality in Islam allows one to become selfless and grow to love serving others. The greatest service we can lend is through sharing the truth.

Appearance—Appearance is the state, condition, manner, or style in which a person or object appears. Why is our appearance so relevant as it relates to marketing Islam? Especially, as it relates to the women in Islam?

For woman in Islam, proper covering and dress identifies who we are and what we represent. A man and woman’s appearance is the only tool that does not require us to even open our mouths. If we posses Islam, our appearance should reflect that which we say we believe in. Our cleanliness and modesty for both females and males will place a positive mark on those who behold us. Having a higher degree of wisdom, the mark of civilization, brings not only an alternative way living, but also an alternative way to present ourselves—one of respect and dignity. Higher civilizations have always exercised modesty and decency, which goes hand and hand with intelligence.

Manners and Conduct—Manners and conduct play a major role in how people view Islam. This is how a person speaks to and treats others. Our manners and conduct are part of a rule or measure that determines what degree of civilization we own. Proper manners and conduct is a basic thing that distinguishes human beings from beasts or animals. These basic principles are among the first things taught for proper development of man. “Good manners protect good morals,” notes the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Morals—Morals are concerned with the principles or rules of right and wrong. Good morals counsel right conduct. Our everyday living as Muslims is tied to this weighty principle. Conveying truth and concerning ourselves with right conduct is one of the ways we climb into oneness with Allah (God). Properly marketing Islam is not just transforming for the one who is practicing these tools, but it’s also transforming for those who behold and study your ways and actions without you even knowing. This is why marketing Islam properly is immeasurable. Marketing such a perfect product goes beyond faith, gender, race, and nationality. It allows the onlooker to get a glimpse into true Islam by us being Allah (God’s) representative.
