What's your opinion on this article?

A good poem is like a great pair of shoes, it supports all the weight you are carrying around, it matches with whatever you are wearing, it’s beautiful, yet practical. You don’t have to kick it off at the end of the day. A good poem is like a great friend, it knows your weaknesses, but keeps them secret, it shares in your secrets, your life, your pains and joy. So marking April as National Poetry Month we are pleased to share these poets. National Poetry month was created in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry.  The founders included teachers, booksellers, poets, publishers, librarians and literary organizations.

He is my Righteous Benefactor
Before conception the matter was already decided

I am Allah’s Little Girl

From the ashes of ungodly pain
Self-hatred
Abuse
Disregard and disdain
He reformed me
HIS Phoenix
Destined to illuminate the path to a
New World Order
With strength, grace, and beauty
A Marvel for the world to see

I am Allah’s Little Girl

He is my Protector
Praise-Worthy Director
My role is already written
My only delight
And greatest joy
Is to be pleasing in His Sight

I am Allah’s Little Girl

No greater Father have I
Than the One
Who desired to see
His Universe complete
So He created ME
He is my Nurturer
My Sustainer
Sufficient is He
As I am evolved completely
Into the Woman He wants me to be
I cherish the thought that I am
And will forever be

Allah’s Little Girl

Why Not?©

Why not be a Muslim? Why not cover your hair?

You’d rather frown your face when something negatives said?

Why not be a Muslim? Put that gin and juice down.

Drinking away your life, because God you have not found.

Why not be a Muslim? Actually cover your behind.

You talk about Jesus, but live deaf, dumb, and blind.

You argue too much clothing, and that you would be too hot.

Do you think it was snowing in the days of Moses and Lot?

Why not be a Muslim? And keep your legs closed.

Help rid the stereotype that we are all thugs and hoes.

Eliminate these diseases from the Black community.

Separate from “This World’s” lifestyles and create our own with UNITY!

Why not be a Muslim? And help wake up these dead souls.

Or do you plan to keep clubbing until you’re 80 years old?

Why not be a Muslim? And respect, protect, and love the Black Queens.

Commit to one Woman and stop jumping Jeans.

Look up to the Blackman as he walks with God.

And stop stressing him to die under a Whiteman’s job.

Why not be a Muslim? Or just accept your own?

Aren’t WE tired of being broken, disappointed, hurt, and alone?
