Voting for 2012 ended with the reelection of President Barack Obama, but the hatred, disrespect and attacks on the president have been non-stop. From Twitter messages, to college campus protests to radio station call-ins, to gun purchases, and anger on the streets, a highly divided country is supposed to be administered by a Black man.

Though political fights are bruising and politics is not a place for the thin-skinned or faint of heart, a special disdain and disgust is reserved for President Obama.
The Honorable Minister Farrakhan again recently warned that the racial divide in the country grows and White anger is at a fever pitch. And as he described the states that supported Mitt Romney as reflecting the states of the Old Confederacy, a post-election modern secession movement has sprung up. Citizens have petitioned the White House for the peaceful release of Louisiana, Texas, Montana, North Dakota, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon, New York, Arkansas, Michigan, and Tennessee from the Union.
How far the petitions will get remains to be seen, but they are indicative of the climate and why the Minister has warned the president and Black America are under the shadow of death. There has already been a 400 percent increase in death threats against Mr. Obama and his reelection once again has unleashed a flood of outright hatred and racial resentment.
As Min. Farrakhan warned a significant number of Whites aren’t happy with the election outcome and fear their country has been taken over by Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans and their women and youth have been swayed to join those ranks. These are the groups that voted for Mr. Obama and allowed him to take office. A majority of White men and White women voted against the president. The racial recalcitrants, however, are not going down without a fight, Min. Farrakhan warned. That puts all of us in the Valley of the Shadow of Death.
The anger kindled burst into the open as the president was winning the Electoral College and popular vote. Some Whites complained that a n----r was in the White House and only the lowest of the people follow him. Donald Trump called the election outcome a travesty and called for a march on Washington. Ted Nugent, the virulently anti-Obama rocker, tweeted that the country was going to hell: “ ‘Pimps whores & welfare brats & their soulless supporters hav [sic] a president to destroy America,’ ” he tweeted. Later he derided the president as a “subhuman varmint” and warned Americans “u just voted for economic & spiritual suicide. Soulless fools.”
But angry Nugent wasn’t alone: At Ole Miss students protested the Obama victory and used racial epithets and burned an Obama-Biden sign to punctuate their point. The chancellor for the University of Mississippi condemned the Nov. 7 protests even as the school marked the 50th anniversary of its desegregation by James Farmer.
The “reports of uncivil language and shouted racial epithets appear to be accurate and are universally condemned by the university, student leaders and the vast majority of students who are more representative of our university creed,” he said.
In Richmond, Va., a small all-male school, Hampden-Sydney College, was rocked by racial slurs, thrown bottles and fireworks set off outside the Minority Student Union shortly after President Barack Obama’s re-election. The school’s Black male president apologized for the incident.
In Dothan, Ala., a figure made to resemble the president drew concern when it was hung from a tree in October before Halloween but after the election it was sitting on a porch outside of a residence. A sign on the figure read, “Pray 4 Assassin.”
On the West Coast, Denise Helms got fired for remarks made about the president on social media. The California woman was fired and reported to the Secret Service after using the N-word and referencing an Obama assassination. Being challenged by a reporter didn’t change her mind. “Helms then told a Sacramento TV station that she wouldn’t mind a bit if someone assassinated Obama,” a media outlet reported.
Up North, the Village Voice newspaper noted, “The Racist Tweet War Against Obama Comes To New York.” It reported on racist tweets, including apparently tweets from high schoolers, and a catalogue of such tweets by Jezebel writer Egan Morrissey. The messages included, @Walken4GOP: “Why did Obama’s great grandaddy cross the road? Because my great grandaddy tugged his neckchain in that direction.” @pukingvagina: “So the nigger is still living life in that big white apartment.”
But New Yorkers weren’t to be outdone, as a teen tweeted, according to the Voice, “No NIGGER should lead this country. #Romney” and “Only thing black people are good at is basketball #run #shot #steal.” Another high school student reputedly tweeted: “When in doubt, kick the nigger out. #Romney!!” and “If your black and did NOT vote for #Obama, clap you’re a--.”
“We’re not living in a post-racist age but an age where the racist have become much more racist,” observed the Voice writer John Surico.
The Minister has urged the government to “double down” on security for the president and warns if Mr. Obama is harmed, the response from Americans will tear the country apart.
Floating Sheep, a site run by academics who analyze data and geography, mapped racist tweets and were able to rank them. “During the day after the 2012 presidential election we took note of a spike in hate speech on Twitter referring to President Obama’s re-election, as chronicled by Jezebel,” said the researchers.
They collected tweets from Nov. 1 and essentially processed “each state’s share of election hate speech tweet relative to its total number of tweets.” Mississippi and Alabama had the highest hate tweet ratings, and “other southern states (Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee) surrounding these two core states” also had high scores. Post-election racist tweets were also high in Utah and Missouri, while West Virginia, Oregon and Minnesota had higher numbers of hate tweets relative to their overall tweeting.
“Racist behavior, particularly directed at African Americans in the U.S., is all too easy to find both offline and in information space,” Floating Sheep observed.
But as the hate is tallied, there is a question to be asked, will Blacks continue to seek an agreement with the hell that we have experienced in America and a covenant with death? Scripture says your agreement with hell will not stand, and your covenant with death shall be disannulled—meaning God wants to take us out of the grasp and control of these evil people. Do we want to remain or have we finally seen enough signs? If not, the hate speech and the hateful acts are just beginning, not just against the president but against all of us.
