“And the trumpet is blown, when lo! from their graves they will hasten on to their Lord. They will say:  O woe to us!  Who has raised us up from our sleeping-place? This is what the Beneficent promised and the messengers told the truth.  It is but a single cry, when low!  They are all brought before Us.” Holy Qur’an, Surah 36, verses 51-53

At the time that this article was being prepared for publication in this week’s Final Call newspaper, several events have taken place focusing on the subject of the Bermuda Triangle in the Bahamas with further investigations being disclosed on the Lost Atlantis and its civilization.  Both subjects were treated in documentaries recently shown on the Discovery Channel this past Sunday evening beginning first with anomalies reported in the energy vortex in the Bermuda Triangle.  Such reports of strange electromagnetic forces operating in this area go as far back as the 1920s when the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh, made his debut flight overseas from New York to Paris, France, and in one interim passed through the Bermuda Triangle and reported in his book 40 years later an unusual electromagnetic energy that encompassed him.

In another incident in December of 1945, a military mission known as Flight 19, were doing maneuverings in this area and disappeared out of sight.  The rescue mission identified as Flight 19 also disappeared without a trace.  Both flights originated from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The authorities have never recovered any evidence of bodies retrieved nor mechanical parts of their planes, only theories of their strange disappearance remains.

Immediately following this documentary on the Bermuda Triangle, a second one was shown on the Lost Island of Atlantis with evidence presented by scientists studying this phenomenon in the Aegean Sea region on the Island of Thera or Santorini.  This investigation included specialists in volcanology and geology extending their research to the Island of Crete, which was home to the early Minoan civilization that had direct contact with Egypt some 1,000 years before Greek civilization was established.  Thus, through the Greek philosophers who studied under the priesthood of Egypt at Heliopolis, some of these ancient mysteries were taught so that Greek civilization lays the base for the educational and philosophical foundation of the Western world today.

On the morning of July 23, I received notification of further outreach to the island of Bimini from among representatives of our own nation which may result in benefits for us in the very near future.  Now, we continue bringing to our readers our Reflections from Bimini beginning with excerpts from our student director of Muhammad University of Islam in Detroit, Michigan, Sister Chinyerim Muhammad, followed by her 17-year-old son, Jahbril Justice Muhammad.

Unchartered Territory: Muhammad University of Islam In Bimini

It seemed fitting and in accordance with Allah’s Will that this recent trip to Bimini happened despite the many obstacles which arose in the course of preparing for it. Our goal and focus at the Muhammad University in Detroit this year can be summed up in a question I posed to the students at the beginning of the school year: “How can we (teachers and students) be a part of a school that we believe was founded by Allah, in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, and not do everything we can to make it a premiere educational institution? Simply put, shouldn’t God’s school be number one in the world?”  At times, being number one means taking a chance and going where no one has gone before (smile). Throughout the trip, as I watched my students enjoy the newness of the experience of traveling abroad in Bimini, I reflected on the gift and significance of being a part of an independent educational system such as the Muhammad University of Islam.

This summer I had the honor and pleasure of leaving the country for the first time and visiting the little island of Bimini with Mother Tynnetta, Muhammad University of Islam (Detroit), and the Mxodus Team.  One of the most notable things I remember about Bimini was its very light atmosphere, not in reference to color or illumination, but light in the sense of freedom from weight or burden. The people of Bimini all carried a perceptible feeling of contentment and appreciation for Allah (God) and the blessings of life in general. The environment was very serene and peaceful and this was evident even in the smallest animals around.

While reflecting on this experience, I started to think about the U.S. and how its own atmosphere greatly contrasts this light atmosphere present in Bimini. My mind reflected on the Biminites and their content disposition and serene way of life and also the Americans and the hostility and coldness evident in daily life. The difference was very clear but I wanted to know: Why? Was it truly the waters and the sands that made Bimini so light, because in the U.S. I have seen beautiful beaches and shining waters as well. Could the difference in American life be caused by the economic troubles, because I recall that Bimini was not unscathed by poverty either.

After further reflection, it became clear to me that the weight of the atmosphere present in the U.S. is not based on the geographic environment or even its financial trouble. The weight that America carries is a result of hosting a contrary life to what Allah (God) wills. The weight enveloping the daily life in America is a result of her own Sins.  There has to be an unbearable feeling of despair that comes with being in enmity of Allah (God) and clearly a nation of sinners would affect the atmosphere of said nation.

Reflecting further on this matter has really emphasized the importance of living your life in harmony with Allah (God).  Just as the plants and the animals of the world live in submission to Allah’s will, we too must submit to Allah and His Will. This very existence in which we live was created in accordance with Allah’s Will; so unless we line ourselves up with Allah and His Will, we will always feel the stress and burden that comes with being in opposition. I thank Allah for the opportunity to take part in such a historic Mxodus tour and I pray that I may have the spirit to be in accord with Allah’s Will.

Note: After returning from Bimini, I was inspired to create an artistic representation based on the story of Atlantis.  I used Photoshop software to create this art.

“Surely the owners of the Garden are on that day in a happy occupation.  They and their wives are in shades, reclining on raised couches.  They have fruits therein, and they have whatever they desire.  Peace! A word from a Merciful Lord.” Holy Qur’an, Surah 36, verses 54-58

To be continued.
