The Revolution is not televised … when it’s a spiritual revolution

Greetings Relatives,

There is a revolution that is going on! Not a physical revolution that you can see with your physical eye but a spiritual revolution. It’s the type of revolution that is written about in the Book of Revelation in the Bible. It’s the revolution that was spoken about through storytelling in all Indigenous teachings that a HUGE hand from the sky will destroy everything. That only a few will come together. That only a few will gather to a safe haven to be saved.

Our fight is not physical anymore like how it was in the 40’s, 50’s 60’s, where we saw Blacks being sprayed down with fire hoses on television, or women standing in front of the White House burning their bras, or over a million American Indians walking from San Francisco to Washington DC, or Asians being held in concentration camps here in America. (Yes, America had concentration camps.) See these revolutions were being televised, today it still is but its spiritual television and not everyone will be able to see it with their two eyes.

In April, I went to the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This has been my third year going. Every year I promote it through The Final Call wanting a huge number of Black people to go. The first year I went I saw approximately twenty Black people. The second year I went, and that’s the year when Brother Ishmael Muhammad spoke during the grand entry, there was about thirty Black people present.

This year I went and I was asked to speak and perform, there was about fifty! Of course I would like to have seen more but there is a silent spiritual revolution going on, that only The Creator can put into people’s hearts to go and giving them a reason to want to go. I saw more young people that are mixed with Native and Black dancing in their traditional regalia in the Pow Wow. It was beautiful to see more young people wearing t-shirts that stated, “I am Native and Proud!” I stayed at the Sky City Casino and Hotel that is in the Pueblo of Acoma community.

Every chance I get I try to spend my money with my people because they need it most! Before I headed to the Pow Wow I walked around the casino and saw the monuments they had in there and noticed the close similarity to African regalia. A lot of the Pueblo people had African features. We drove through Sky City, which is the one of the oldest Native communities that has not been changed. To see these homes was such a beautiful sight. There is a tribe of beautiful people still living there with great pride. Every elder to young person I met smiled and embraced me and my friends with open arms and no judgments. For those of you that missed this year’s Gathering of Nations, I am going to stress this again! You cannot miss the one next year! There is a revolution going on and you do not want to be left out.

I was also privileged to attend this year's Indigenous Peoples’ Conference at the United Nations Building in New York City. Because I had to head to the Gathering of Nations I was only able to attend one day of the Indigenous People’s conference on Indigenous Women’s’ Global Caucus. To see women from all over the world was a sight! It was about the state of women and what we should do as women to join together on saving our community of the destruction of lands that is causing climate change, financial empowerment, laws that are for women’s right around the world. When I was there the Pope was visiting the United Nations Building. For many years people that have practiced Catholicism used the Catholic religion to kill and rape many Indigenous people and to see the Pope visit the United Nations during the same time at the Indigenous Peoples’ Conference, surely, there sure is a spiritual revolution going on.

In May, Senator Barack Obama visited South Dakota, and Crow Agency, Montana. He spoke to Native Americans about how we are not forgotten and that how he wants to make sure there is a Native American presence in the US Government if he is chosen president. There is a spiritual revolution! I was watching television the other day and everyday I see another home being busted on “illegal” immigration charges, even though the entire southwest and western region of the United States was once Mexico and even though all of America is originally indigenous land. But for the first time, I saw the government officials feeding the Mexicans and giving them blankets. There is a spiritual revolution going on! Recently Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the controversial sheriff for Arizona’s Maricopa County has been arresting Mexicans even if they are citizens or not to see if they are “illegal aliens” but the Governor of Arizona is fighting the sheriff for racial profiling of Mexicans in Arizona. There is definitely a spiritual revolution going on.

We must be in tune with The Creator to be able to speak, think and act how God wants us to speak, think and act. There are things going on around us and if we are not in tune with Him we will not see them, and become a victim of His wrath! Let’s begin fasting and praying and meditating so we can receive His blessings tenfold and be able to see the revolution that is taking place.
