Taking the instruction of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to utilize the language of Hip Hop in a positive way, award winning rapper Jasiri X is back with a searing commentary of the Sean Bell case. His new anthem, “Enough is Enough” was recorded just a few hours after the Sean Bell verdict was handed down. On April 25, three NYPD police officers were acquitted in the shooting of Sean Bell. The NYPD officers fired 51 shots at the unarmed groom who was to be married the next day. “Enough is Enough” has already been featured on major hip hop sites and is making its way to others via YouTube. In 2007, Jasiri X took the Hip Hop world by storm with the poignant “Free the Jena Six” which became the anthem that galvanized the community in support the youth unlawfully incarcerated in Jena, Louisiana. The song was named 2007 Hip-Hip Political Song of the Year by Legendary Hip-Hop Journalist Davey D and was listened to and downloaded over 500,000 times via the internet. As President of LYRICS Inc. (Leading Young Rappers in Career Success), Brother Jasiri successfully communicates with today’s youth by speaking their language. He is a member of the Nation of Islam and the Millions More Movement of Southwestern Pennsylvania and a founding member of One HOOD, a group comprised of strong Black men determined to heal the wounds of the community with a proactive approach. Jasiri X’s videos and songs can be viewed on YouTube and www.myspace.com/jasirix.
