Closing The Gap: Divinely guided men and their students
By Jabril Muhammad
Updated Mar 19, 2014 - 9:39:42 AM

I’m repeating this article on March 15, 2014. Here it is.

You can see the photograph of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan that appears on page 378 in the book Closing The Gap. I made that book, with the help of others. I’ve never given all the details of what made me to do it.

I took that photograph of Minister Farrakhan.

Why did I make it? I wanted others to “see” his mind and his heart—and more.

You can read on the front page of the book: Closing The Gap—Inner Views of the Heart, Mind and Soul of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

You can read this letter from Minister Farrakhan about that book. I’ve made that public in the previous article that we can read in The Final Call.

At the same time (September 2006) I started the next book—Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad is Still Physically Alive???.

We can read Minister Farrakhan’s reaction to this fourth edition of “Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Is Still Physically Alive???” I’ve made his reaction public.

On the back page of that book we can read Minister Farrakhan’s words in terms of that “history” which involves prophecy.

Sister Kelmer called my wife to meet with us. When we met her, I gave her this book (the 4th) edition as a gift. That happened on Sunday the 16th of this month. She didn’t know about this 4th edition. She did not know of the letter written to me by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad concerning his escape from a future death plot and she did not know of Minister Farrakhan’s response to it.

You can read of Minister Farrakhan’s response in Vol. 32; No.12.

This is Sister Kelmer’s experience. These are her words:

Closing the Gap for the second time, I find myself thanking Allah for allowing me to see the inner-being of two great teachers: the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Minister Farrakhan.

“This book allows you to experience and imagine being in the seat of the Honorable Louis Farrakhan. As I read the intricate and emotional stages of becoming Farrakhan, I realized that there was no way I could have ever taken the trials and test the Honorable Elijah Muhammad put his student through.

“It brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my chest when I read how our Leader put our Brother through trial after trial after trial. Imagine the person who you love and honor beating up on a family member of yours, and making mockery of the way they speak.

“After reading Closing the Gap, I understood why the Minister was Elected and Selected to sit in the seat of our Father, the most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

“Unless you are a woman going through childbirth, there is no way any of us could endure such pain and trauma the Messenger of God put the Minister through. Closing the Gap reveals the Inner Being of a Servant of Allah.

“I would like to thank Brother Jabril Muhammad and all those who helped in the birth of this soft cover book. The softness of this book allowed me to understand and see the feminine side of my teacher and my Minister.

“This feminine book helped me to understand why The Minister was chosen to sit in the seat in the absence of our Leader, Teacher and Guide, the most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

“As a Muslim, I don’t celebrate Christmas but when I received Jabril Muhammad’s book, ‘Is it Possible that The Honorable Elijah Muhammad is still Physically Alive???’ With a letter from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad on his escape from a particular death plot, as a gift, I felt like that child in the Christmas movie called ‘Miracle on 34th Street.’

“The 106 page book is filled with pictures and letters written by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. At this moment in my life, to become One with Allah, as a Believer and Follower of these two Great Men of Allah, I am learning to immerse myself into a higher thinking of two great minds.

“All Praise is Due to Allah!”

She told me of her thinking and I wanted her words for the reader of The Final Call Newspaper. We thanked her.

*********

This concludes the interview I conducted with the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on May 30, 2000. This is part of his response:

Brother Jabril: Brother Minister, you have been “ill” for the last few years. What are just some of the immediate lessons you would like to share with others about going through such an experience? What comes immediately to your mind about how to help them get through such an experience as “illness?”

Minister Farrakhan: Allah says in the Holy Qur’an, “He created man and woman to face difficulty.”

In another place it says, “Allah has ordained struggle.” I’ve never read it in the Qur’an, but it’s there in other words, that Allah has ordained pain as the mother of new realities. So we cannot go through life without pain. We cannot go through life without difficulty. We cannot go through life without struggle.

God has ordained this because these are the circumstances of life that manifest the quality of our character, our heart, the core of our being. If the heart is diseased, the person is indeed ill.

When a misfortune befalls the Believer, the Holy Qur’an says, “Allah is my patron and to Him is my eventual return.” What beautiful words. He’s my patron. He’s my backer. He’s my support. He’s my friend.

*********

I heard a Christian preacher say, “It is your attitude that will determine your altitude.” And if you have an improper attitude toward misfortune, you won’t get too high in the sight of God.

To all who may read this, study this, take the attitude of love for God. Love for Allah.

Regardless to what He brings or allows into your life, “I love you Allah and I thank you, for surely, in my trial, there is good for me because I know you mean good for me. I’ll find good in it.”

The good student will always find some good in what the master teacher is doing to them. And in the end, they will understand, that everything that he did to them, he was their best friend and patron because he did it all for them, willingly or unwillingly.

Brother Jabril: Your words remind me of what I used to say to those who were catching hell unjustly from others. I said, “I’d rather be the wood than the sandpaper.”

Minister Farrakhan: Right. Some people are your teacher and they don’t even know it. They’re like sandpaper and you’re like the piece of wood that God wants to smooth out. So He sends some rough riders into our life.

Well, it’s rough going through it now, if you were a piece of wood and the sand paper was rubbing on you. Well, you wouldn’t like that too well. But, the more the sandpaper rubs, the more sand comes off the sandpaper and it can’t do you any further harm. ‘Grin and bear it,’ the old saying goes and thank God for it and you will come out the winner.

More next issue, Allah willing
