Defending Farrakhan: The M.G.T. sets critics straight, part 2 Below is an edited excerpt from a response to an essay written by activist and artist Kwame Rose on abernathymagazine.com that mischaracterized and misinterpreted spiritual guidance by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on the crime of rape, abuse of women and girls and the critical importance of modest dress for women and girls as a means of protection in a world that devalues them. Additional responses from Muslim women of the Nation of Islam who also engaged in a June 2 Twitter chat on the subject spearheaded by Ebony Safiyyah Muhammad, editor and publisher of Hurt2Healing Magazine can be viewed on Twitter using the hashtag #CoveredGirls.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s recent interview on the widely popular Breakfast Club Morning Show (Power 105.1 FM) ignited a firestorm of reaction that had social media all abuzz.

The 83 year old National Representative of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Nation of Islam sat down with hosts Charlemange Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy in their New York Studios on Monday, May 23 for a very open, sometimes painful dialogue. The show resonated so well with listeners that Minister Farrakhan became the number one topic trending on Facebook.

Co-host Angela Yee’s question, whether a woman should be judged by the way she’s dressed, invoked a passionate response from Minister Farrakhan. Ms. Yee’s question paved the way for a thought provoking discussion where the Minister delved not only into the physical value of the female but her mental, spiritual sacredness from a divine perspective. Clearly, he was not speaking according to the status quo and its treatment of females based on social norms.

While some may have taken issue with and prematurely charged the Minister with being outdated or out of step with the masses, a careful look into his words reveal not only is he in tune with the time, his deference to Divine Guidance affords him with vision to see what must be done.

Minister Farrakhan exposed the danger when a society leaves unchecked those who’d usurp the infallible Law of God with man’s own fallible law. Simply put, who or what causes a society to negate and repeat the errors of the past unleashes events leading to its eventual destruction – aka, the Law of Cause and Effect.

One, if not the greatest, indicator of a nation’s imminent fall (according to Minister Farrakhan’s teacher, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad) is the treatment and condition of its women and girls. According to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s teachings, “A Nation Can Rise No Higher Than It’s Woman.”

The dialogue between the hosts and Minister Farrakhan was commendable. Finally, a much needed generational heart to heart was taking place; effectively bridging the generation gap thus permitting the transfer of much needed wisdom to the fertile energy of willingness and desire to usher in change from among our young leaders. Millions were awakened to the reality of the time and what must be done. It’s clear to see why the Breakfast Club is called, “The World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show.”

Go back and revisit this historic interview with The Breakfast Club and Minister Louis Farrakhan, then remember his words to, “Get full on that!”
