As far back as he can remember, Mustiqirr Muhammad, had a keen interest in photography, sparked by his father, Warren Muhammad a professional videographer, photographer and member of the Final Call video production team. Mustiqirr remembers taking the train with his dad to downtown Chicago and taking pictures of the scenery. “My dad taught me how to work the camera,” he said.

Now, 14 Mustiqirr continues developing and honing his craft for a purpose. “I want to help my Nation. Satan covers up the Nation of Islam. I want to show the world we are different than how Satan portrays us,” he said. Mustiqirr will be a freshman this fall at Urban Prep Academy, a renowned all boys’ charter school in Chicago. Through his work documenting various N.O.I. outings and events through video and photography and sharing it online and in print, Mustiqirr wants to show the world who and what the Nation of Islam really is and represents. The ambitious teen also wants to study and pursue careers in agriculture and chemical engineering. That may seem like a lot for a young man to handle, but but not according to Mustiqirr. “I believe the Black man is capable of anything,” he said.
