CHICAGO—The Honorable Dorothy Brown, Cook County Circuit Court Clerk, fresh off her resounding re-election victory, was enthusiastically received by a packed house at the Salaam Restaurant during April’s regularly scheduled second Thursday of the month gathering of the Nation of Islam’s Elite 50 Plus “Community Resource Buffet”.

Those celebrating birth anniversaries in the month of April were also honored, such as Brother Henry Muhammad celebrating 101 years, Brother Luther X, 76, Brother Russell Muhammad, 75, and Final Call contributing photographer, Brother Haroon Rajaee, 65.

Henry Muhammad held attendees in awe delivering a 20 minute historical account of the early days in the Nation of Islam.  Henry Muhammad says he was among those who were the earliest converts of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

The Honorable Dorothy Brown presented valuable information to guests on the duty and function of the circuit court clerk’s office.

There was an electrifying prelude to Clerk Brown’s presentation via a heart tugging introduction by her husband, Dr. Benton Cook III, who shared with the audience the behind the scenes work and struggle that went into Clerk Brown’s re-election bid and his efforts to assist and protect her.  Dr. Cook’s most memorable line was his opening statement that he had the, “…plumb, pleasing, pleasure of introducing his wife.”

When Clerk Brown rose to speak, her first request was for everyone to give her husband a round of applause due to the fact that even though her husband had suffered a critical injury and should have been bed ridden during the campaign, he not only took the lead in campaign organizing, but every time it seemed that her campaign was on the verge of running out of funds, her husband always came through by organizing fundraising events that covered the expenses.

Clerk Brown concluded her presentation with a comprehensive overview of the Cook County Circuit Court via an over 30-page Power Point presentation.

She showed the gathering how to download the special internet “app”, shared instructions on how to electronically file court cases, and the future plans of the Circuit Court of Cook County.  She closed her presentation with an announcement of the 2016 Second Chance Adult and Juvenile Expungement Summit & Ex-offender Job Information Seminar scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois.
