SEATTLE - The day for the Save Our Girls program in Seattle began with registered sisters of the Nation of Islam arriving as early as 6 a.m. to ensure timely arrival to hear the full message by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.  The Seattle Study Group opened its doors to the community in which we received guests who were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and smiles.  Guests were provided with welcome packets containing a notepad, pen, and a thank you card to ensure a hospitable stay with us for the day and to assist them in recording the key information of the presentation.

Visitors and guests then entered the main area which was fully decorated by Creative Culture and Refinements, Sister Angela Muhammad.  A table was prepared consisting of the 7 units that were presented during the program, self-care reminders, and books by women ministers in the Nation such as Student Minister Ava Muhammad and our beloved Mother Tynnetta Muhammad.  The rest of the main space was filled with dining spaces and tables of delicious fruit, healthy cuisine such as vegetarian burrito wraps, and light homemade desserts prepared by the M.G.T. and G.C.C.

After viewing the Save our Girls message, a young 15 year-old guest, Destiny Capers said, it was fun and she learned a lot that she could not have learned anywhere else. “It was very empowering.  It taught me how to deal with stuff and that I shouldn’t doubt myself, that I am as good as anyone else.”  Another young sister Curtianna, 12 said, “It is a lot of information about the M.G.T. and G.C.C and what the youth were saying (had) deep meanings and (was) good.”

Sister Gloria Muhammad, 19, also found the day to be fully empowering. “I thought the minister’s message was very powerful and I liked all of the videos that they showed.  I really liked the fashion show and also the fighting made me want to do martial arts,” said Sister Gloria. “The minister was saying that we should protect ourselves and not just give ourselves to just any kind of man,” she added.

“It was beautiful to be here today.  It is just good inspiration what the Minister talks about, especially to get to our young girls about how to cook and rear the children,” said Sister Tibla, a guest chaperone of Skyway.  “All of the facts that he stated about finding a man and taking care of your husbands are all of the things that are important for our young girls.  The program was beautiful. It was just beautiful.  I am happy to be here.”
