(FinalCall.com) - Excitement is growing as the countdown to the Nation of Islam's 2014 Saviours’ Day Convention begins!

This year’s convention is set to take place in Detroit, Michigan, the historic birthplace of the Nation of Islam in North America. Each year, to commemorate the birth of its founder Master W. Fard Muhammad (February 26, 1877), thousands from around the world make the pilgrimage to attend the annual convention for fellowship, networking, information dissemination and spiritual renewal.

The last time Saviours’ Day was held in Detroit, many described what they saw as “a miracle.” Though still recovering from an intense 14-hour surgery in the first week of January 2007, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan delivered a message of unity and responsibility at Ford Field to a crowd of over 40,000 in a message titled “One Nation Under God: The Confusion, The Guidance, The Warning.”

Although the media attempted to frame it as something of a “farewell speech” it is clear, Minister Farrakhan has continued to go strong speaking to the masses and touching lives as the chief exponent of the Teachings of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, patriarch of the Nation of Islam.

This theme for Saviours’ Day 2014 is “How Strong is Our Foundation: Can We Survive?” and the convention marks the 84th year of the Nation of Islam’s existence in North America.

Saviours’ Day events will kick off Thursday evening, February 20, with a simulcast of Dr. Ava Muhammad’s popular talk show “Elevated Places” in the Cobo Center’s Grand Ballroom. The public is invited to be a part of the live studio audience as panelists discuss a theme that many of this year’s workshops and activities will also deal with “Muhammad’s Economic Blueprint For Ending Poverty and Want.”

The exciting Drill Competition, Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village as well as the Art and Essay Contests are always popular favorites. There are many youth and young adult sessions as well as concerts and screenings of the documentary “The Trials of Muhammad Ali.” Plenary sessions, workshops and other activities will be held at the Cobo Center during the convention.

Minister Farrakhan’s keynote address is set to be delivered Sunday, February 23 at 2 p.m. (EST) at the 20,000-seat Joe Louis Arena.
