PHILADELPHIA -- The first day of the Democratic National Convention was less than ideal as Debbie Wasserman Schultz, outgoing DNC chairperson, was booed and shot down by angry Democrats.

Mrs. Wasserman Schultz was bombarded with cries of "Shame!" after an email hack leaked detrimental information from DNC staffers. According to democracynow.org,  nearly 20,000 emails revealed how the party favored Hillary Clinton and worked to discreetly defeat Bernie Sanders. The emails were released by WikiLeaks. In an interview with ABC, Sen. Sanders said that  "the DNC was not running a fair operation" and was aware of their support for Hillary Clinton. He also stated that Mrs. Wasserman Schultz should not be chair of the DNC.

Campaign officials blamed the hack on Russian military agencies, and accused  Moscow of attempting to assist Donald Trump after he said he would not necessarily defend North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies if they were attacked by Russia.

Trump dismissed the accusation in a Twitter post.

The FBI confirmed that they were investigating the hack on July 25.

Many demonstrators in Philadelphia on July24 expressed their dispproval of Clinton, chanting "Hell no, DNC, we won't vote for Hillary." However,  AP.org says Clinton will accept the party's official presidential nomination on July 28 and continue with her address.

In an attempt to settle the tensions at the convention, the party announced  that Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sanders, and first lady, Michelle Obama would speak first.
