PHILADELPHIA -- The third day of the Democratic National Convention, became a celebration after President Barack Obama delivered his speech and Tim Kaine accepted the party's Vice-Presidential nomination.

President Obama began by expressing his gratitude to his wife and daughters who have stayed beside him throughout his presidency. "You met my two little girls, Malia and Sasha, now two amazing young women who just fill me with pride." he told the audience, "You fell for my brilliant wife and partner, Michelle who has made me a better father and a better man, who has gone on to inspire our nation as first lady".

He stated that America has grown since the beginning of his election, and continues to develop. "I see a younger generation full of energy and new ideas, not constrained by what is, ready to seize what ought to be."

After a briefing of his decision to support Hillary Clinton for president, explaining that "she knows what's at stake in the decisions our government makes, what's at stake for the working family", he commented on Donald Trump's plans if the GOP nominee elected.

"You know, the Donald is not really a plans guy. He's not really a facts guy, either. He calls himself a business guy, which is true, but I have to say, I know plenty of businessmen and women who've achieved remarkable success without leaving a trail of lawsuits and unpaid workers and people feeling like they got cheated."

He questioned supporters of Trump if they really believed that a man without concern for the working class would suddenly become their champion. "Hey, if so, you should vote for him." he stated.

Ending his speech, he endorsed Mrs. Clinton as a "fighter" and "patriot" that will do for America the good that it is looking for. "I'm asking you to join me, to reject cynicism and reject fear and to summon what is best in us; to elect Hillary Clinton as the next president of the United States and show the world we still believe in the promise of this great nation."

Tim Kaine's Nomination Speech as Vice-President

Former Virginia governor and current U.S. Senator, Tim Kaine gladly accepted the party's nomation as Vice- President while praising Clinton as the one we who "can be trusted with the job". He listed her accomplishments as first lady and senator from New York and secretary of state.

In comparison to Trump, he added, "... any party that would nominate Donald Trump for president has moved too far away from his party of Lincoln." His tactics as a millionaire and businessman, as he stated, come off as "slick-talking" and "empty-promising", he added.

"Let's talk about trust," he said, "I trust Hillary Clinton with our son's life."

It was suggested that Kaine was selected based on his "battleground-state politician" status with a history in the working class and fluency in Spanish. Mrs. Clinton said Sen. Kainer's character traits would be useful in defeating Trump in November.
