Middle Earth and the Hollow Earth —Possible Link to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Fact or Fiction!

“Say: Allah is the intercession altogether. His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned. And when Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who believe not in the Hereafter shrink, and when those besides Him are mentioned, lo! They are joyful.”--Holy Qur’an, Surah 39, verses 44-45

In several previous articles, we have discussed the origin and root thinking on the possibility of the earth’s interior being hollow. The possibility of our earth’s interior being hollow has been an ongoing discussion for thousands of years, which has led to diverse legends and myths handed down by earlier societies and people who have claimed another worldly existence prior to the present world in which we live today. I believe that the previous worlds may contain make believe elements, or fairytales that makeup the stories of literature that we study from childhood to adulthood in this present world system.

Let us begin the following narrative with the words: “Once upon a time …” Once I asked the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad a question about the light of the sun mentioned in Revelation, Chapter 21 which states that the City (referred to as New Jerusalem) had no need of the Sun or the Moon to shine in it; for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light. And the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

I wanted to know if that was to be taken literally; and he answered me in the affirmative, meaning yes. Ever since his answer, I tried to imagine what kind of light and heat would be generated by God and His Christ that would illuminate the “Golden City” without the need for the Sun and the Moon to give its light. After years of contemplation and searching for the possible answer, I believe that the technology employed by our scientists is so advanced that we can hardly imagine these highly elevated states of spiritual consciousness that could possibly lead to a greater understanding of the earth’s interior as well as its exterior.

I thought about the root origin and thinking of our literary world of science and fiction combined, full of storytelling where legends and myths abound with fantasies intertwined with new scientific discoveries proving oftimes what we believe as fiction and fairytales to be true. According to the tantalizing stories, poetry and essays written by author J.R.R. Tolkien in his trilogy of the “Lord of the Rings,” we are shown a vivid world of what he terms “Middle Earth,” located in the far north mountainous region and beyond featuring a mixed society identified as Hobbits, Men, Elves, and Dwarfs interspersed with many other characters in between, all struggling for survival in a mythical land known as “Middle Earth.”

Particularly outstanding is the character called Smeagol or Gollam and the wizard whose name is Gandalf. Gollum is so obsessed with possessing this Ring that he shows two sides of his character which speaks to him in little gutteral sounds causing him to lose his sanity. According to the story, this Ring had been lost for thousands of years and had the power to be in a specific place, at a specific time magnetizing itself to the owner. In the hands of a good guardian, the Ring could be used for Good. And in the hands of an evil person, it could drive one to transgress into greater and greater evil.

This powerful Ring was fashioned from a fiery volcano in Middle Earth’s interior that had the power to draw conflicting sides together uniting together waring parties. At the end of the Triology, entitled “The Return of the Kings,” a great Wedding Feast takes place at the end of the series and the main characters, Frodo and his friend Sam, the Hobbits, the Dwarfs and the Elves are united after overcoming great adversities and reside in a Golden Kingdom of peace and prosperity. I wondered further in my evaluation of Middle Earth, the Hollow Earth and the Lord of the Rings if somehow these 22 rings with the One who was to master the rule of all the others, might be traceable to the 22 chapters of Revelation, and the symbolisms of the Dragon and the Beasts fighting against the angels and the Christ, with the war in heaven that breaks out in order to establish God’s Kingdom on Earth.

In the book entitled, The Hollow Earth, by author and scholar, Dr. Raymond Bernard, he writes on pages 166-167 some interesting legends taken from early societies that also seem to connect to the symbolic writings of J.R.R. Tolkien as well as the Book of Revelation of the Bible. “Some Eskimo legends tell of a paradisiacal land of great beauty to the North. Eskimo legends also tell of a beautiful land of perpetual light where there is neither darkness at any time nor a too bright sun. This wonderful land has a mild climate where large lakes never freeze, where tropical animals roam in herds and where birds of many colors cloud the sky, a land of perpetual youth, where people live for thousands of years in peace and happiness.

“There is a story of a British king named Herla, whom the Skraelings (Eskimos), took to a land of paradise beneath the earth. The Irish have a legend about a lovely land beyond the north where there is continuous light and summer weather. Scandinavian legend tells of a wonderful land far to the north called “Ultina Thule.” Palmer comments: “Is Admiral Byrd’s land of mystery center of the great unknown the same as the Ultina Thule of Scandinavian Legend?”

“Say: O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Thou judgest between Thy servants as to that wherein they differ. And had those who do wrong all that is in the earth and the like of it with it, they would certainly offer it as ransom from the evil of the chastisement on the day of Resurrection. And what they never thought of shall become plain to them from Allah. And the evil of what they wrought will become plain to them, and that which they mocked at will beset them”--Holy Qur’an, Surah 39, verses 46-48
