Barbados to host World Racism conference follow-up
A follow-up meeting to the United
Nations World Conference Against Racism is planned for Oct. 1�6 in
Bridgetown, Barbados. The "African and African Descendants World
Conference Against Racism" is open to all concerned Black people
and representatives of non-governmental organizations, whether
they attended last year�s UN conference in Durban, South Africa,
or not, organizers said.

Activists pastor wants to be next
mayor in nation's capital
WASHINGTON�Standing at the now closed D.C. General
Hospital, the Reverend Willie F. Wilson, pastor of Union Temple Baptist
Church announced his decision to become the District�s next mayor. "As your mayor, I will uphold the constitutional principle of
government for the people and by the people. I will restore integrity
and confidence in the Office of Mayor and prioritize the well being of
our seniors, children and youth," said 58-year old Rev. Wilson.
"I will stand up and speak for the voiceless, the hopeless, the
disappointed, the disgusted and the hopeful people of our city,"
he vowed.
