BY MINISTER LOUIS FARRAKHAN
Does
putting youth in prisons with adults make sense? What are the options?
WASHINGTONIt makes no
sense to try youth offenders in adult courts, a new report has
determined, suggesting that experts find new ways to reduce juvenile
crime and its spiraling costs.
The report also alarmingly cites the disproportional confinement of
Black youth between the ages of 10-17, a group that comprises 15 percent
of the U.S. population in that age group.
Reparations battle is the
mission of N'COBRA
WASHINGTONAs the discussion of American
reparations payments to the descendants of this countrys slaves has
spread among state legislatures and city councils around the country,
leaders of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (NCOBRA)
worked to polish their image as the pre-eminent spokespersons of the
growing movement during a week-long conference in Washington June 14-20.

The
untimely death of Earl T. Shinhoster
by A. Akbar Muhammad
I am still wrestling with the
death of my brother and friend Earl T. Shinhoster of Atlanta, Ga., who
died in a tragic accident on Sunday, June 11. As his family and his close
friends stated, he was doing what he has always done most of his
lifehelping and serving.

Baltimore, Milwaukee
councils endorse Million Family March
BALTIMORECity council
members proudly passed Resolution 215 endorsing the upcoming Million
Family March (MFM). By doing so, Baltimore earned the honorable
distinction of being the first city council to officially endorse the
observance of the 5th anniversary of the Million Man March, this one to
focus on family. Several days later, Milwaukee City Council president
Marvin Pratt announced that a similar resolution would be passed in
support of the Oct. 16, 2000 march.

The
Serious of our word
by Minister Louis Farrakhan
To look at marriage as
only the legalization of the sex act is to put our minds on a level
that will not bring the best out of the experience. To become extreme
in our view that the sex act is only for procreation and not meant by
Allah (God) to give pleasure to married couples is a view that is not
in accord with the Will, Plan and Purpose of Allah (God).
